LAMBTON OPEN HOUSE

Top 10 Reasons to #ChooseLambton and visit us for Spring Open House
SARNIA, April 6, 2018 – The countdown is on to Lambton College's annual Spring Open House and we've got a cool list of reasons why Lambton College is the place to be on Saturday, April 7, 2018.

In addition to program displays, information sessions, photo booth fun and some fantastic prizes, here are 10 reasons why you should #ChooseLambton in 2018.

Reason #10: Faculty meet and greet - and treats!

One of the best reasons to come to Open House is because you'll have a chance to meet the entire Lambton College team in person. Consider this your backstage pass to a personal meet and greet with Lambton College Deans, faculty, and students. You'll have the opportunity to ask program-specific questions, learn more about individual courses and even discuss career outcomes. Student ambassadors will also be available from each program to give you the inside scoop on what it's really like to be a Lambton College student.

Reason #9: Fire School Fun

Our Fire & Public Safety Centre of Excellence is the largest, live-fueled training centre in Canada and we're going to have ongoing shuttles available throughout the day to get you there. Learn about our fire facilities and programs while touring this state-of-the-art facility. Guests can also take a closer look at the on-site industrial props utilized by students for educational and training purposes.

Reason #8: Pounce and pizza and #LCPride

We know, that's actually three reasons. But the chance to meet our mascot Pounce and enjoy free pizza while learning about all the great opportunities available at Lambton College is cause to celebrate. Everyone who comes to Open House, leaves feeling like they're part of the Pride.

Reason #7: We're growing by two new buildings – and more!

Our campus is under construction and we're excited to share updates and plans for our new world-class facilities, the NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre and the Athletics & Fitness Complex. Our Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technology is also completing a major renovation, and is just about ready to provide students with access to a state-of-the-practice learning environment.

Reason #6. New Student Experience Sessions

We've added two brand new sessions to this year's event, which will feature a lineup of presentations from current students who participated in co-op, field and clinical placements as part of their program. The Co-op Student Experience session will highlight how students enrolled in Technology and Business programs can gain relevant work experience through the College's co-operative education program. Similarly, the Field & Clinical Placement Student Experience session will showcase the experiential learning benefits associated with these placements.

Reason #5: Learn all about our Esports initiatives

Not only are we the first College to launch a full-time academic Esports program, but we've got a brand new gaming arena and a varsity esports team. Learn more about how students and the community can utilize the arena for tournament and events, tour our new gaming space, and find out how you can get involved in varsity esports.

Reason #4. Explore the campus

Learn about the various services available to Lambton College students while touring residence, classrooms, labs and other select stops such as the Campus Shop, the cafeteria, the Library Resource Centre, The Cube, and myCareer Centre. You can also become familiar with all the amenities available to students in our 140 room residence, such as foosball and pool tables, a snack bar and media room. Guests will also be treated to a sneak peek at our new buildings.

Reason #3: We've got new programs (and old favourites, too!)

We've got an exciting new lineup of programs available for September 2018 and we're going to tell you all about them at Open House. Learn more about all of our programs including admission requirements and employment prospects.

Reason #2: Apply on the spot!

You've toured the campus, met with program faculty and seen everything Lambton College has offer – get your application in early and apply on the spot. Our Enrolment Team will be on hand to help you navigate the application process and answer any questions along the way. (There are also some awesome incentives for anybody who chooses to apply during Open House!)

Reason #1: The chance to win your tuition

Every year, one lucky Lambton College student wins their tuition. The tuition draw is our largest giveaway of the year and it's open to every student who enrolls in a full-time Lambton College program before the May 1 equal consideration deadline.

Spring Open House will take place on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For more information, please visit lambtoncollege.ca/openhouse. Interested guests are encouraged to pre-register for the chance to win a $50 iTunes gift card.

Always visit and contact your chosen post-secondary school's FINANCIAL AID OFFICE.  Some awards all new students are automatically applied to, other require students to step forward and submit an application.  Deadlines for such awards can begin as early as March.  An example of such awards can be found at this link at the University of Windsor.

Good luck with your scholarship and award hunting.   A reminder that we will have internal award applications for Brennan students which will be available in May.
